About NBSE Class 12 Environmental Education textbook

Environmental Education for NBSE Class 12 helps students understand our natural world and human interaction with it. The subject is presented through several units, each containing specific chapters.

The first unit, “Biodiversity,” introduces the variety of life on Earth. It begins with Chapter 1, “Biodiversity,” explaining the concept and its worth. Chapter 2, “Biodiversity for Sustenance of Mankind,” explores how biodiversity supports human existence. The “Ecological Role and Economic Potential of Biodiversity” are discussed in Chapter 3. The unit finishes with Chapter 4, “Loss of Biodiversity and its Conservation,” which looks at threats to biodiversity and ways to protect it.

Unit II, “Environmental Management,” focuses on methods to care for our environment. Chapter 5, “Environmental Management,” discusses its necessity and different aspects. “Legal Provisions for Environmental Management,” found in Chapter 6, outlines relevant laws. Chapter 7, “Approaches for Environmental Management,” details various methods for managing environmental issues.

The third unit is “Sustainable Development,” which addresses development that meets present needs without harming future generations. Chapter 8, “Sustainable Development,” defines this idea and explains why it is needed. “Role-Play in Sustainable Development,” Chapter 9, considers the part individuals and communities play. Chapter 10, “Support Base for Sustainable Development,” discusses the foundations required for such development.

Unit IV, “Sustainable Agriculture,” covers farming practices that are environmentally sound. Chapter 11, “Sustainable Agriculture,” introduces its principles. Chapter 12, “Green Revolution,” examines its historical impact. Other important topics in this unit include “Soil Management” (Chapter 13), “Irrigation Systems and Use of Manures and Fertilisers” (Chapter 14), “Crop Protection and Pest Management” (Chapter 15), “Elements of Sustainable Agriculture” (Chapter 16), “Biotechnology for Crop Improvement” (Chapter 17), and “Agricultural Management” (Chapter 18).
