The HSLC and HSSLC results of Nagaland Board of School Education were declared on Thursday, May 2, 2019. In HSSLC, Suhana Begum of MGM Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur, Ananya Kumar Das of St. John Hr. Sec. Residential School, Dimapur, and Imtijungla Pongen of Christian Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur topped the three streams i.e., Commerce, Science, and Arts respectively. All three NBSE HSSLC toppers are from Dimapur this year.
Suhana scored 96% (Commerce), Ananya Scored 94.60% (Science) and Imtijungla scored 94.40% to top the lists. While all of the toppers this year are from Dimapur alone, this isn’t the only coincidence and interesting fact about them. Here are seven more:
1. The three toppers are from three different religions.
HSSLC 2019 results for Nagaland have been one of the rarest occasions when the three NBSE HSSLC toppers from three streams i.e., Arts, Commerce, and Science emerged from three different religions. Arts topper Imtijungla Pongen follows Christianity, Suhana Begum follows Islam, and Ananya follows Hinduism. Though religion has no relevance here, it nevertheless goes on to display the beautiful diversity and equality.
2. Suhana and Ananya shared the 4th rank in 2017.
Interestingly, 2019 HSSLC toppers Suhana Begum (Commerce) and Ananya Kumar Dey (Science) in the year 2017 shared the fourth rank when HSLC results were declared. They continued their streak and emerged as toppers in their respective streams. That’s some coincidence.
3. The toppers belong to families of toppers.
Brilliance runs in the families of the toppers. Ananya’s elder sister was one of the HSSLC toppers in Nagaland and Imtijungla’s cousin was also one of the toppers in the past. Both the toppers had inspirations in their families.
4. They have very diverse plans.
Suhana wants to be a Chartered Accountant and is planning to pursue her further education in Aligarh Muslim University, Uttar Pradesh. Ananya wants to be a doctor and is preparing for NEET. Imtijungla’s plan is to continue her further education and appear in competitive examinations. According to her father, he is ready to support all her educational aspirations but he thinks these are all human plans. “Man proposes, but God disposes,” he says.
5. Imtijungla is the only one who wasn’t a topper in HSLC results.
Imtijungla is the only topper among the three who hadn’t been a topper in the HSLC examination. She studied 6 to 7 hours for the examinations and emerged as the topper. This goes on to prove that everything is achievable with hard work. She didn’t even take private tuitions.
6. Their parents are teachers themselves.
Ananya’s father, Amit Kumar Das, is a teacher himself. He has been teaching in Nagaland for the last 26 years and for last 22 years he has been teaching in St. John Hr. Sec. Residential School from where Ananya cleared his HSSLC. He is a chemistry teacher and was awarded Best Teacher Award in the year 2018 in Dimapur. He had created a roaster for Ananya which he followed each day. Imtijungla’s mother also is a teacher under the state government and a driving force behind Imtijungla.
7. None of them was expecting to top the charts.
None of the toppers were expecting to be on the number one. Though they were expecting a good result, being on the top of the list wasn’t what they were rooting for. The fathers, however, were more confident of the possibility of the feat. Ananya’s father and Imtijungla’s father were indeed having an instinct before the results were declared that their children could actually beat everyone else in the race.
