About SEBA

Commonly known as SEBA, the Board of Secondary Education, Assam, conducts the examinations of classes till 10 in the Indian state of Assam.  With its temporary accommodation in Shillong, the board came into existence in the year 1961 and became functional from the year 1962. Later, it was shifted to a rented premise in Guwahati. The present office building located in Guwahati was completed in the year 1989. Earlier, SEBA was the territory of the erstwhile Assam, which comprised almost the entirety of Northeast India, but with time, the state has been divided into a number of states and each state adopted its own board to regulate the quality of education.

The curriculums for all the classes are designed by this board and all the schools affiliated to it are required to follow them. SEBA also designs and prescribes the textbooks to all the schools affiliated to it.

Every year, more than 3,00,000 (three lakh) students appear in the HSLC examinations conducted by the board.
