About NCERT
National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is an autonomous organisation that was set up by the Government of India in the year 1961 with the objectives of assisting and advising the governments- both central and state in order to impart quality education to the students.
NCERT as an organisation undertakes research in areas associated with school education and designs textbooks, educational material, etc. It also develops and publicises innovative educational practices and act as a nodal agency to achieve the objectives of Universalisation of Elementary Education.
The NCERT also works together with international organizations and offers training services to educational personnel from developing countries.
NCERT has its headquarters at Sri Aurbindo Marg in New Delhi and the textbooks published by it are prescribed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) as well as 19 boards from 14 different states in the country.
